OUR DINING ROOM

Our bar and dining area is a modern open space, in a relaxed and casual environment, serving three meals a day, and snacks in between during high season. Equipped with an unpretentious bar, and tables looking out over the wild Cornish cliffs, we now offer a brand new menu, inspired by our new Michelin Star Chef. Our restaurant caters for everything from a relaxed breakfast or casual lunch to an indulgent dinner, all under one roof. Wine, dine and relax amidst the epic seascapes and breath-taking sunsets.

OUR TEAM AND SUPPLIERS

We are fortunate to have Masterchef Peter Gorton in charge of our culinary team. Having won numerous awards including a Michelin Star, Peter sold ‘The Horn of Plenty’ in Devon, and now consults for us.

Our team is driven by a passion for using the freshest of locally sourced, seasonal produce to create inventive, colourful and mouth-watering dishes. Our chefs source ingredients from nearby farms, selecting the freshest of local produce from locals such as Chypraze Farm and McFadden’s butcher and baker. Menus change with the seasons, reflecting the best from our small group of local trusted suppliers. We also support our local fishermen and are proud to offer the freshest catch of the day straight from their boats in Newlyn, as well as Cape Cornwall lobster and crab caught off our own cape.

Andrew Cleary met local lobster fisherman Steve Tregear sitting on a barstool in the local Rugby Club. Steve was supporting Exeter Chiefs while Andrew was supporting the team he used to play for, Saracens. Steve used to supply Cape Cornwall Club many years ago, and has now agreed to help us out once again, selling us the freshest lobsters straight from his pots to our restaurant tables one hundred yards away.

PETER GORTON’S GORTONI ITALIAN NIGHT

On August 7th, our Michelin Star Chef Peter Gorton led our events team in putting on quite a show. While cooking a range of Italian dishes he gave a narrative on the history of each dish, including Gilthead bream and risotto stuffed peppers served with a salsa verde and saffron sauce, and a braised beef brisket on a creamy rosemary and garlic polenta with balsamic mushrooms and a red wine sauce. This was followed by a selection of Italian desserts.

Peter’s specialty is integrating culinary education and culture into his fine dining evenings. While watching their meal being prepared, our guests were able to listen to Peter talking about which part of Italy each dish comes from and the class of people who invented them. Afterwards we had a quiz, and we were delighted to discover that many of the foodies in the audience had answered most of the questions correctly.

This event was the first Cape Cornwall Club Fine Dining Experience and sold out within 24 hours! There have been many more, including Thai, Japanese, Gourmet French and some seasonal Christmas fun.

OUR SERVICE

We aim to provide our guests with food and drinks all day long. Meals and bar snacks are served in high season from when the kitchen opens at 8am to an hour after it closes at 9pm, after which you can still purchase drinks, coffees, teas, chocolate bars, crisps and nuts until the bar closes when the last of our guests has finished propping up the bar.

In between our breakfast, lunch and dinner services, we offer Bar Snacks all day long. Our Bar Snacks include favourites such as breakfast rolls, scotch eggs, Cornish pasties, quiches, and especially for cyclists and swimmers – cakes! So any time you feel a bit peckish, just ask our bar tender to fetch you a plate.

Coffees and teas are also always on offer, along with local gins, Cornish ales and an evolving wine list served at the 19th hole throughout the day. Relax by the warm fire after a long walk through some of England’s finest landscapes, or prop up the bar chatting about your golfing victories; either way our venue has a relaxed space just for you.

Roskilly’s yummy local ice-creams are also available from our friendly reception staff for kids – big and small!

Whatever you feel like, you can be sure that Cape Cornwall Club will be able to cater for your requirements, from à la carte dining and casual lunches, to bar snacks and weddings, we aim to serve you your heart’s desire.


HEALTHY SNACKS

And now for something completely different; for health fanatics and gym goers, we are introducing calorie conscious menu items, health shakes and protein bars amongst other things.

After a good workout in our state-of-the-art gym, a few laps of our heated indoor pool, or a run along some of our stunning coastal tracks, replenish your energy and refuel your body with healthy options.

CULINARY TEAM

Our two local chefs are Cornish born and bred. Both are passionate about using fresh local produce to create recipes bursting with flavour. Specialities include delicious traditional English roasts and a mean curry or from our specialist pastry chef – fine gourmet desserts as well as pies and quiches. Both chefs are now managed and trained by our consultant Master Chef Peter Gorton, and supported by a range of kitchen and front of house staff.

Michelin Star Chef Peter Gorton joined our opening team and we are absolutely delighted to have him on board! Having recently sold his famous seaside restaurant ‘The Horn of Plenty’ in Devon, he decided to pursue a career as a consultant chef, offering his expertise to new businesses. We are incredibly fortunate to have Peter on our opening team, and his first Cape Cornwall Club Fine Dining Experience sold out within 24 hours! Watch out for our 2020 calendar coming soon.
